Word clouds

A word cloud lets your audience answer in their own words. Attendees type a word or a short phrase, and Claper aggregates the submissions: the same word is only counted once, and the most frequent words are displayed larger.

Word clouds are useful to collect impressions, associations or ideas in real time, for example to answer a prompt like What comes to mind when you hear....

Create a word cloud

When you create a word cloud, you have to define a title, this is the question or the prompt you want your audience to answer.

You can then choose the number of words per attendee, between 1 and 5. A word is limited to 60 characters.

In the Options, you can decide whether attendees can see the word cloud on their device. When this is disabled, attendees only see the words they submitted and the aggregated cloud stays on your screen.

Words are matched regardless of casing and accents: Elixir and elixir are the same word, and the text that is displayed is the one of the first submission.

WARNING

Attendees cannot change or remove a word once they have submitted it.

Word cloud results

During your presentation, enable Show results on presentation on the Event manager to display the word cloud on the screen, and Show the word cloud to attendees to also display it on the attendees' devices.

The Event manager shows a preview of the submitted words with their number of occurrences. Click a word to take it out of the cloud, and click it again in the Hidden words list to bring it back. Hiding a word never deletes the submissions.

Export

You can export all the submissions of a word cloud in CSV format from the report, one row per submission, including the hidden ones.
